“Rīgas satiksme” announces procurements for the performance of construction works at the line sections of tram No. 5 and No. 7
Within the framework of the project “Adaptation of Riga tram infrastructure to the low-floor tram parameters”, on March 21, “Rīgas satiksme” announced procurements for the performance of construction works for renewal and reconstruction of the tram infrastructure in the line section of tram No. 5 from the intersection of Slokas Street with Jūrmalas gatve to the final point “Iļģuciems” and in the line section of tram No. 7 from the Central Market to the final point “Ķengarags”. The winners of the procurement will have to ensure the reconstruction, renewal and construction of the tram infrastructure and infrastructure-related objects, adapting it to the low-floor tram parameters. Applicants must submit their applications by April 27, 14.00.
The selected procurement procedure is a closed tender, which will take place in two stages: the first will be the selection of candidates, and the second will be the evaluation of technical and financial offers submitted by the applicants and the conclusion of the procurement contracts. It is planned to conclude contracts with the winners of the procurements at the end of 2022, so that construction works can start in the first half of 2023. Taking into account the scope and specifics of the announced procurement works, candidates must have experience in the construction of tram infrastructure, as well as an appropriate annual turnover and stable financial and economic performance.
The projects envisage adaptation of the existing tram infrastructure to the low-floor tram parameters, including such works as reconstruction and renewal of the tracks, construction of the catenary network and reconstruction of the electrical network and, where technically possible, construction of the raised stop platforms on both the carriageway and sidewalks. In total, the adjusted length of the tram lines is estimated at about 2 kilometres in the line section of tram No. 5 and 7 kilometres in the line section of tram No. 7.

In addition to the construction works at the line sections of tram No. 5 and No. 7, which are envisaged for performance within the project “Adaptation of Riga tram infrastructure to the low-floor tram parameters”, this project also envisages renovation of five substations and reconstruction of the tracks at the intersection of 11. novembra krastmala and 13. janvāra Street. Total costs of this project will be approximately EUR 55 million, of which 85% of the eligible costs will be co-financed by the Cohesion Fund, i.e. indicatively 38.78 million euro, and 16.29 million euro will be co-financed by “Rīgas satiksme”.
