Cash payments in "Rīgas satiksme" ticket vending machines to be temporarily closed

"Rīgas satiksme" informs that from December 15, 2013 till January 1, 2014 cash payments in "Rīgas satiksme" ticket vending machines in Riga streets will be temporarily closed due to the introduction of the euro. At the same time, payments with cards will be made as before and will not be suspended.

It is planned that cash payments in ticket vending machines will be resumed on January 1, 2014, and from this date it will be possible to pay only in euros. Until January 1 these changes will not affect ticket vending machines in low-floor trams, and they will be closed for a shorter period.

The first "Rīgas satiksme" ticket vending machines were installed in 2010, and there are 42 ticket vending machines in total now. In ticket vending machines, one can buy or reload different types of e-tickets, paying with cash or cards.
