During the Rimi Kids’ Day and Rimi Riga Marathon 2025 on 17 and 18 May, vehicle traffic will be closed at certain times in several locations of the city, thus public transport will be affected.

17 May

At 11.00 and at 11.30 the DPD Mile run will take place along the route of K. Valdemāra iela (start at the Art Museum), Lāčplēša iela, Brīvības iela, Brīvības bulvāris, and finish at the Freedom Monument. From approx. 10.45, traffic will be temporarily closed on K. Valdemāra iela near the Art Museum, as instructed by the State Police, the rest of the route from approximately 10.55. Estimated time of traffic closure 20 to 30 minutes from the start.

The closure will temporarily affect bus routes 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 20, 21, 24, 37, 41, 50 and 53 as well as trolleybus routes 3, 4, 5, 14, 17, 19, 25, 31 and 34.

18 May

During the Rimi Riga Marathon 2025, from the start of the marathon until the closing of the route (approximately at 17.00), there will be changes on several public transport routes. Approximately 10 minutes before the start time of each distance (for the half marathon distance for professional runners the start time is at 7.00, at 7.05 start of the Marathon distance, at 9.00 – Half Marathon distance, at 12.30 – 10 km distance, at 14.30 and at 15.30 start of the 6 km distance) and approximately 10 to 15 minutes after the start, bus, trolleybus and tram traffic will be closed on the 11. novembra krastmala near the Akmens tilts, on the Akmens tilts and on Uzvaras bulvāris in the section up to the Raņķa dambis.

Due to the temporary closure of traffic on the Akmens tilts at the start times of the races, the operation of bus route 22 towards Riga Airport will also be affected. Passengers are kindly requested to plan extra travel time to arrive at the airport on time!

In the direction from Abrenes iela

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 13.00 buses will run from Abrenes iela along the route to Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, then along Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, Marijas iela, A. Čaka iela, Bruņinieku iela, K. Valdemāra iela, Duntes iela, Tilta iela and further along the route.

• From Saules dārzs, the buses will depart from 7.46 to 10.04 along the route to Ķīšezera iela, then they will make a left turn to G. Zemgala gatve, G. Zemgala gatve overpass, Brīvības gatve, Brīvības iela, Pērnavas iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, E. Benjamiņas iela, V .Purvīša iela, Abrenes iela. The route is closed from Mežaparks to Saules dārzs.

In the direction from Jaunmārupe

• From 6.00 to 8.00 the buses will run along the route until Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve stop “Mūkusalas rotācijas aplis”, then they will turn around to go in the opposite direction, along Kārļa Ulmaņa gatve local roadway, Bauskas iela, Jelgavas iela, Akmeņu iela, Valguma iela, Uzvaras bulvāris, Akmens tilts and further along the route.

In the direction from Abrenes iela

• From 06.55 to 16.30 the buses will run along the route to Akmens tilts, Akmens tilts, Uzvaras bulvāris, Valguma iela, Akmeņu iela, Mūkusalas iela and further along the route.
• The buses will stop at the tram stop “Nacionālā bibliotēka” (at Uzvaras bulvāris). The stop “Nacionālā bibliotēka” (Mūkusalas iela) in the direction from the centre will be closed during this time.

In the direction from Jaunciems, Suži

In the direction from Pļavnieki cemetery

• From 7.40 to 12.00 the buses will run from Pļavnieki cemetery along the route to G. Zemgala gatve overpass, then along the exit to Gaujas / Ķīšezera iela, Gaujas iela, Rusova iela, Ķīšezera iela to the intersection with Ezermalas iela, where they will stop at the stop “Ķīšezera iela” on Ezermalas iela (direction to Sarkandaugava). Then the buses will turn around for the opposite direction and continue along Ķīšezera iela, make a right turn onto G. Zemgala gatve, continue over the G. Zemgala gatve overpass, exit onto Varoņu iela, follow Varoņu iela, Meža prospekts, Viestura prospekts, turn around for the opposite direction, follow Meža prospekts and stop at the previous final stop “Sarkandaugava” (Meža prospekts).

In the direction from Sarkandaugava

• From 7.40 to 12.00 from the final stop “Sarkandaugava” buses will run along Meža prospekts, Varoņu iela, G. Zemgala gatves overpass, exit to Ķīšezera iela, make a left turn to Ķīšezera iela, along Ķīšezera iela to the intersection with Ezermalas iela, where they turn around to go in the opposite direction, further along Ķīšezera iela, where Ķīšezera iela stops at the stop “Ķīšezera iela” (direction to Pļavnieki cemetery), Ķīšezera iela, further make a left turn to G. Zemgala gatves overpass and continues along the route to Pļavnieki cemetery.
• The stops “Čiekurkalna ūdenstornis”, “Brāļu kapi”, “Ķīšezera iela”, “Sudrabu Edžus iela”, “Saules dārzs”, “Sporta bāze”, “Meža prospekts”, “Ezermalas iela”, “Mežaparks/ZOO”, “Bergenas iela”, “Stendera iela”, “Inčukalna iela” will be closed on the route.

In the direction to Zolitūde

• From approx. 06.55 until approx. 17.00 the buses will run along Inženieru iela, Raiņa bulvāris, 13. janvāra iela, 11. novembra krastmala, Akmens tilts, Uzvaras bulvāris, Slokas iela, Kalnciema iela and further along the route. 

TRAM ROUTES

Tram route 1

Trams from 7.00 to 10.00 in the direction to Imanta at the stops “Mārtiņa iela”, “Baldones iela” will stop only after the permission of a representative of the organisers.

From approx. 12.35 to approx. 13.00 trams will not stop at the stop “Valsts arhīvs” (towards Imanta).

Tram route 5

• Trams from Iļģuciems to Mīlgrāvis will run at 5.42.
• Starting from departure at 7.42 to 17.00 trams will run from Iļģuciems along the route to Aspazijas bulvāris, then along Aspazijas bulvāris, K. Barona iela, Radio iela, 13. janvāra iela and back along the route to Iļģuciems. From Mīlgrāvis the route will be closed.
• The tram from Mīlgrāvis to Iļģuciems departs at 6.39 (arrives at the National Theatre at 7.04).
• Trams departing from tram depot No. 3 (Fridriķa iela 2) at 5.59 will carry passengers to Iļģuciems. After that, the trip will run until 13. janvāra iela at 6.42 and further from 13. janvāra iela at 7.03 will make a trip with passengers to depot No. 3.
• In the afternoon, the first trip on the main route from Iļģuciems to Mīlgrāvis will depart at 17.14 and from Mīlgrāvis to Iļģuciems at 18.08

Tram route 5 will stop from 7.00 to 10.00 in the direction to Iļģuciems at the stops “Mārtiņa iela”, “Baldones iela” and “Pulka sēta” only with the permission of a representative of the organisers. However, from approx. 12.35 until approx. 13.00 trams will not stop at the stop “Valsts arhīvs” (towards Iļģuciems).

Tram route 7

Trams from 6.57 to 17.00 will run from Ķengarags along the route to Aspazijas bulvāris, further along Aspazijas bulvāris, K. Barona iela, Radio iela, 13. janvāra iela and back on the route to Ķengarags. From Ausekļa iela the route will be closed.

The last trip from Ķengarags to Ausekļa iela will depart at 6.38 and from Ausekļa iela to Ķengarags at 7.09. In the afternoon, the first trip on the main route from Ķengarags to Ausekļa iela will be at 16.38 and from Ausekļa iela to Ķengarags at 17.08.

Tram route 8

• Trams from Tapešu iela to Mīlgrāvis will run at 6.09, but starting with the trip at 6.40 (route 8A main route) until 17.00 trams will run from Tapešu iela to Stacijas laukums.
• From Mīlgrāvis the route will be closed. During the marathon trams will run under the number 8A.
• The last trip from Mīlgrāvis to Tapešu iela will depart at 7.04 (check-in at the National Theatre at 7.32). And from Tapešu iela to Mīlgrāvis at 6.09 (check-in at the National Theatre at 6.36).
• Trams departing from tram depot No. 3 (Fridriķa iela 2) at 5.19 will travel with passengers to Mīlgrāvis, from where they will travel on the main route at 6.05 and from Tapešu iela at 7.10 will travel with passengers to tram depot No. 3.
• In the afternoon, the first trip on the main route from Tapešu iela to Mīlgrāvis will resume at 17.40 and from Mīlgrāvis to Tapešu iela at 17.33. 

Tram route 11

• Starting with the trip at 6.48 until 17.00 trams will run from Mežaparks along the route to Aspazijas bulvāris, then along Aspazijas bulvāris, 13. janvāra iela, Radio iela, K. Barona iela and back along the route to Mežaparks. From Ausekļa iela the route will be closed.
• The last trip from Mežaparks to Ausekļa iela will be at 6.25 and from Ausekļa iela to Mežaparks at 7.00.
• In the afternoon, the first trip on the main route from Mežaparks to Ausekļa iela will resume at 16.41 and from Ausekļa iela to Mežaparks at 17.16.

Tram route 14

• Trams from 7.00 to 10.00 in the direction to Iļģuciems at the stops “Mārtiņa iela”, “Baldones iela” and “Pulka sēta” only with the permission of a representative of the organisers.
• From approx. 12.35 until approx. 13.00 trams will not stop at the stop “Valsts arhīvs” (towards Iļģuciems).

TROLLEYBUS ROUTES

During the marathon, the departure directions of trolleybus routes 5, 15, 16, 19, 20 and 22 from trolleybus depot No. 1 will be changed. Trolleybus routes 4, 9, 17, 27 and 31 will have changed departure directions from trolleybus depot No. 2.

• From 6.30 to 8.00 trolleybuses towards Ziepniekkalns will run on Salu tilts, without going to Mūkusala rotary circle. During this time, the stops “Zaķusala”, “Lucavsala” and “Mūkusalas rotācijas aplis” will not be served.

In the direction from Ziepniekkalns

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 11.00 trolleybuses will run along the route to Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, then along Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, Marijas iela, A. Čaka iela, Pērnavas iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.
• From approx. 11.00 until approx. 17.00 trolleybuses will run along the route to Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, then along Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela, Marijas iela, A. Čaka iela, Bruņinieku iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.

Trolleybus route 5

In the morning until the end of the marathon – at approx. 16.50, trolleybus route 5 will be closed. The first trip from Daugava Stadium will resume at 16.55, and from P. Stradiņš Hospital at 16.51. 

Trolleybus route 9

• Due to the closure of trolleybus route 25 during the marathon, trolleybus route 9 will have an increased number of trips and will run according to a temporary schedule.
• From approx. 12.35 until approx. 13.00 trolleybuses will not stop at the stop “Valsts arhīvs” (in the direction from centre).
• From 6.55 to 16.30 the trolleybuses will stop at the tram stop “Nacionālā bibliotēka” (at Uzvaras bulvāris).

Trolleybus route 14 and 17

In the direction from Mežciems and Purvciems

• From approx. 06.55 until approx. 11.00 trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Pērnavas iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Elizabetes iela, Satekles iela to the Central Station (the final stop of the trolleybus route 18/23) and back along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A. Čaka iela, Pērnavas iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route to Mežciems and Purvciems respectively.
• Trolleybus 14 starting with the first trip from Mežciems at 6.30 runs according to the bypass scheme.
• Trolleybus 17, starting with the first departure from Purvciems at 6.37, runs according to the bypass scheme.
• From approx. 11.00 until approx. 17.00 trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Stabu iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Elizabetes iela, Satekles iela to the Central Station (the final stop of the route 18/23) and back along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A. Čaka iela, Bruņinieku iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route to Mežciems and Purvciems respectively.

Trolleybus 17 stop “Centrālā stacija” on Raiņa bulvāris (near the tunnel) will be closed.

Trolleybus route 19

• In the morning, trolleybuses will make trips from trolleybus depot No. 1 towards Ziepniekkalns, which will be at the final stop “Pētersala” at 5.47 and at 6.34. The route from the final stop “Pētersala” to Inženieru iela is closed until the end of the marathon.
• In the morning until 16.50 trolleybuses will run from the trolleybus 15 final stop “Latvijas Universitāte” (Inženieru iela) to Ziepniekkalns along the route to Valdeķu iela, then along Valdeķu iela, Ozolciema iela to Ziepniekkalns D/P (trolleybus 4 final stop). From Ziepniekkalns D/P it will run along Ozolciema iela, Valdeķu iela and then along the route to Inženieru iela (trolleybus 15 final stop).
• The stop “Ziepniekkalns” (final stop of trolleybus route 19) will be closed.
• Coming from the University of Latvia, trolleybuses will stop at the trolleybus 15 stop “Centrālā stacija” in Raiņa bulvāris. Trolleybuses will not stop at the trolleybus 19 stop “Centrālā stacija” (near the tunnel).
• From 6.30 to 8.00 trolleybuses towards Ziepniekkalns will run on Salu tilts, without going to Mūkusala rotary circle. During this time, trolleybuses will not stop at “Zaķusala”, “Lucavsala” and “Mūkusalas rotācijas aplis”.
• The trolleybus departing at 6.13 from the trolleybus depot No. 2 towards the centre will take passengers to the temporary final stop “Latvijas Universitāte”.
• The trolleybus departing at 6.30 from trolleybus depot No. 2 towards Ziepniekkalns will carry passengers to the final stop of trolleybus 19.
• The trolleybuses departing at 8.41 will depart from trolleybus depot No. 1, with passengers will take a modified route – running on Dambja iela, Duntes iela, K. Valdemāra iela, Stabu iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Satekles iela , Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela and further along the route to the trolleybus 4 final stop “Ziepniekkalna D/P”.

Trolleybus route 25

• In the direction from Iļģuciems, a trip will be made at 6.17 and in the direction from Brīvības iela at 6.36, after which the route will be closed until the end of the marathon. After the marathon, the first trip on trolleybus route 25 from Iļģuciems will be made at 16.41, from Brīvības iela at 17.17.
• The trolleybus departing at 6.17 from Iļģuciems will take passengers to the stop “Brīvības iela”.
• The trolleybus departing from trolleybus depot No. 2 at 6.19 will take passengers to Iļģuciems.

Trolleybus route 27

In the direction from Ziepniekkalns

• From 6.00 to 8.00 the route will run to Jelgavas iela, then along Jelgavas iela, Akmeņu iela, Valguma iela, Uzvaras bulvāris, Akmens tilts and further along the route.
• Starting with the first trip from Ziepniekkalns – at 6.15 the trolleybus runs according to the bypass scheme.

In the direction from Stacijas laukums

• From 6.55 to 16.30 trolleybuses will run along the route to Akmens tilts, Akmens tilts, Uzvaras bulvāris, Valguma iela, Akmeņu iela, Mūkusalas iela and further along the route.
• The trolleybuses will stop at the tram stop “Nacionālā bibliotēka” (at Uzvaras bulvāris). The stop “Nacionālā bibliotēka” (Mūkusalas iela) in the direction from the centre will be closed during this time.
• For route trolleybuses, the last trip on the main route from the stop “Stacijas laukums” will be at 6.43 and the first trip on the bypass at 7.23.

Trolleybus route 31

In the direction from Berģuciems

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 11.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Pērnavas iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela and further along the route.
• From approx. 11.00 to approx. 17.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Stabu iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela and further along the route.
• Trolleybuses, starting with the first morning trip at 6.45 from Berģuciems, will use the bypass.

In the direction from Centrāltirgus

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 11.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Satekles iela, then along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A.Čaka iela, Pērnavas iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.
• From approx. 11.00 until approx. 17.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Satekles iela, then along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A.Čaka iela, Bruņinieku iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.

Trolleybus route 34

In the direction from Mazā Juglas iela

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 11.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Pērnavas iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela and further along the route.
• From approx. 11.00 until approx. 17.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Brīvības iela, then along Brīvības iela, Stabu iela, A. Čaka iela, Marijas iela, Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela and further along the route.
• The last trip on the main route will depart at 6.27.

In the direction from Centrāltirgus

• From approx. 6.55 until approx. 11.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Satekles iela, then along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A.Čaka iela, Pērnavas iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.
• From approx. 11.00 until approx. 17.00 the trolleybuses will run along the route to Satekles iela, then along Satekles iela, Marijas iela, A.Čaka iela, Bruņinieku iela, Brīvības iela and further along the route.
• The last trip on the main route will depart at 5.30.
