During the construction works, trolleybus route No. 1 will be suspended; changes will also be introduced to parking arrangements

Starting Monday, 10 August, the renovation of Ģertrūdes Street in the section from Aleksandra Čaka Street to Krišjāņa Barona Street will begin. During the construction works, trolleybus route No. 1 will be suspended, and changes will also be made to the operation of the municipal paid parking areas managed by “Rīgas satiksme”.

Significant traffic restrictions and changes to traffic organisation will be in place during the construction period. Therefore, from Monday, 10 August, trolleybus route No. 1 will be suspended. Passengers who usually use this route are encouraged to use other public transport routes, as route No. 1 crosses Valmieras, Avotu, Aleksandra Čaka and Krišjāņa Barona streets, where many other public transport routes operate and provide access to the city centre.

As an alternative, passengers may use bus route No. 20, which runs from Pētersalas Street through the city centre to the intersection of Matīsa, Avotu and Valmieras streets, providing access as close as possible to the former trolleybus route No. 1.

Due to changes in traffic organisation, parking of vehicles will also be restricted in municipal paid parking areas managed by “Rīgas satiksme”. Drivers are asked to pay close attention to road signs and changes in traffic arrangements, as parking may be restricted or parking spaces may be temporarily closed in certain street sections.

During the construction works, residents who have a Resident Parking Permit for the respective area may experience limited access to parking spaces, and their usual parking location may temporarily be unavailable. In such cases, the Resident Parking Permit grants the right to use paid parking spaces in the street section where the person’s registered residential address is located, as well as in paid parking areas established in the adjacent blocks on both sides of that street section, provided they are within the same or a lower tariff zone.

If it is not possible to park in the specific area, the Resident Parking Permit also allows the use of another available paid parking space in any of the street sections indicated on the Resident Parking Permit.

More information about the services provided by “Rīgas satiksme”, public transport timetables, ticket types and other updates is available on the website [www.rigassatiksme.lv](http://www.rigassatiksme.lv) and on the company’s social media channels on “X”, “Facebook” and “Threads”.
