Large families residing in Riga municipality invited to register in new register to get discounts
Large families residing in Riga municipality will have to register in the newly established Large Family Register to take advantage of various benefits, e.g. fare discounts in public transport.
Riga municipality has established the Large Family Register, in which large families having declared their place of residence in the municipality are invited to register. The register is available on Riga municipality service portal at www.eriga.lv, in section E-services for private individuals/Large family register (E-pakalpojumi privātpersonām /Daudzbērnu ģimeņu reģistrs).
If a large family cannot perform electronic registration, it can be done at Riga City Council’s Client reception centres (at Kungu Street 7/9; Brīvības Street 49/53; Daugavpils Street 31; E.Smiļģa Street 46; Rūpniecības Street 21). Large families may also turn to Riga Social Service (Baznīcas Street 19/23, 1st floor, in the following reception hours: Mondays from 10.00 until 18.00, Tuesdays from 9.30 until 15.00, and Thursdays from 9.00 until 16.00).
Families who bring up at least three children may register in the Large Family Register if they have declared their residence at one address in the administrative territory of Riga municipality.
The goal of the register is to provide a uniform and efficient access to the services provided by Riga municipality and the benefits to which large families are entitled, thus furthering the digitalisation of services, availability of e-services, electronic communication between private individuals and the municipality in order to facilitate administrative procedures, particularly in cases where several municipal institutions are involved in providing these services.
Information about the possibility of registering in the Large Family Register and getting support offered by Riga municipality to large families is available at free phone 80005055 of the Riga City Council’s Welfare Department.
To get fare discounts in Riga public transport, parents shall register in the Large Family Register of Riga municipality and then visit one of „Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres, where they have to present their identity documents.
Those families already taking advantage of fare discounts have to register in the Large Family Register until this October 31 to keep using the discounts. If they do not register, they will not be able to use the discounts.
A 100% fare discount on the price of monthly tickets in Riga public transport is granted to both parents of a family with six and more children. Both parents of a family with 3-5 children are granted a 25 EUR discount from the price of the monthly ticket for one route for all days of the month and a 34 EUR discount of the price of the monthly ticket for all days of the month.
