Vacant Board Member Position at Rīgas satiksme Filled by Jānis Naglis
On 14 May, the Council of Rīgas satiksme approved the appointment of Jānis Naglis to the vacant position of Board Member. He will begin his duties at Rīgas satiksme on 1 June.
Jānis Naglis has extensive experience in financial management as well as in the implementation and development of ICT systems. Since 2025, he has served as a Board Member at SIA Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, the implementing body for the Rail Baltica project. Prior to that, he was a member of the management board of Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, while also gaining international experience at Nokia Networks as a Project Financial Controller and ERP Systems Implementer. Naglis holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business with a specialization in Finance from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

Throughout my professional career, I have accumulated extensive experience in financial management, business development, and the implementation of complex IT systems in an international environment. Having spent more than ten years working on international projects at Nokia and in infrastructure development processes, I have become convinced that a modern, data-driven, and efficiently managed organisation begins with smart technological solutions and transparent financial management.
After working on international projects, I returned to Latvia, where I gained experience in helping to develop a new company and learned the principles of state-owned enterprise governance as a board member at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital and at the Rail Baltica implementing organisation Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas.
By joining the Company’s Board, my goal is to strengthen the operational efficiency of Rīgas satiksme, promote the development of modern digital solutions, and ensure sustainable financial management, while maintaining a strong focus on residents’ needs and the delivery of high-quality services," says Jānis Naglis.

The new Board Member will be responsible for the Company’s financial management and digital development, ensuring the effective use of resources, change management, and sustainable growth in line with the Company’s strategic goals.
As previously reported, at the end of February this year, the Council of Rīgas satiksme announced a competition for the position of Board Member in the areas of finance and digital transformation. The submission deadline for applications to participate in the selection process closed on 18 March 2026.
