Prepayment

Non-cash parking meters are used in Riga streets to pay for parking services. They enable users of parking lots to effect fast, comfortable and safe payments with a bank card, a personalised e-ticket or a Riga resident’s card, which allows its user to pay for the use of paid parking lots in tariff zones B, C and D with a 20% discount.

When using a parking meter or the SMS-payment service to pay for the use of a paid parking lot, parking lot users shall register precisely the state registration number of the vehicle and effect a prepayment for all the expected time of using the paid parking lot.

Parking lot users, whose right to use the paid parking lot is attested by a parking document (a resident’s card or a monthly card, to which more than one vehicle is attached, a user card, a disabled person’s parking card), has the duty to put this document in a visible place – on the left side of the vehicle’s dashboard so that the parking lot controller could check the document and its contents, i.e. could see the document’s validity date, number etc.

The maximum time of free use of a paid parking lot is 5 minutes. The maximum time of free use of a paid parking lot during its operation hours after the expiry of the paid time is 15 minutes.
