There are two types of parking meters in Riga streets – for cash payments and non-cash payments. Non-cash parking meters enable fast, convenient and safe payments with a bank card, blue e-ticket or a Riga resident’s card, which allows its users to pay for parking lots in zones B, C and D with 20% discount. 

The document confirming the use of a pay parking lot is to be put in a visible place, on the left side of the vehicle’s dashboard, so that the parking lot inspector could check its presence and contents, i.e. there must be visible information on payment, validity date, number of the document etc.

The maximum time of using a parking lot free of charge is 5 minutes. The maximum allowed time of using parking lots in their working hours upon the expiry of the paid time is 15 minutes.

  • Paying for parking services with Riga resident’s card

    To pay for parking services with Riga resident’s card, a person is to have a valid Riga resident’s card with an activated e-wallet where to transfer e-money. You pay for parking services with the money loaded into your Riga resident’s card. To receive a Riga resident’s card, a person has to declare his/her residence/own a real estate in Riga.     There are 3 options of paying for parking services with Riga resident’s card:

    Parking meter

    1. Make sure that your Riga resident’s card  (e-wallet) is refilled with money (you can do it at www.ridziniekakarte.lv in “My card” section, in “Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres or with a bank card in  parking meters).

    2. Insert your Riga resident’s card into a parking meter for non-cash payments and follow instructions.

    This payment option can be only used at parking lots where non-cash payments are available.
    Mobile application of SMS Rīga 

    1. Register at SMS Rīga. https://smsriga.rigassatiksme.lv/login

    2. Download SMS Rīga application to your smart phone.

    3. Register at www.ridziniekakarte.lv, where you will be able to review your payments for marking services and refill your e-wallet.

    4. Choose SMS Rīga mobile parking operator in “My card” section.

    5. Insert the mobile phone number you registered with at SMS Rīga in “My card” section.

    6. Make sure that your Riga resident’s card  (e-wallet) is refilled with money you can do it at www.ridziniekakarte.lv.

    7. Open SMS Rīga application in your smart phone.

    8. Choose parking time and zone (Riga resident’s tariff will be applied in zones B, C, D).

    9. Pay for parking services.

    With SMS

    1. Register at SMS Rīga. https://smsriga.rigassatiksme.lv/login

    2. Register at www.ridziniekakarte.lv, where you will be able to review your payments for marking services and refill your e-wallet.

    3. Choose SMS Rīga mobile parking operator in “My card” section.

    4. Insert the mobile phone number you registered with at SMS Rīga in “My card” section.

    5. Make sure that your Riga resident’s card (e-wallet) is refilled with money you can do it at www.ridziniekakarte.lv. 

    6. To pay for parking, send SMS to number 8585 with text START or R START [number] [zone] and after you finish to use the parking lot - STOP or R STOP [number]

  • Paying for parking services with blue personalised e-ticket

    To pay for parking services with a blue personalised e-ticket, a person is to have a valid blue personalised e-ticket with an activated e-wallet where to transfer e-money. You pay for parking services with the money loaded into your e-ticket.

    To receive a blue personalised e-ticket, a person can fill an electronic application here and then go to one of “Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres (you can apply for the visit here) or go to a customer service centre, apply for an e-ticket and get it at once.

    To pay for parking services with blue personalised e-ticket:

    1. Make sure that your blue personalized e-ticket (e-wallet) is refilled with money. You can do it at customer service centres of “Rīgas satiksme” or with a bank card in parking meters.
    2. Insert your blue personalized e-ticket into a parking meter for non-cash payments and follow instructions. 

    This payment option can be only used at parking lots where non-cash payments are available.
