Types of e-tickets

made of plastic;
valid for 5 years;
attached to one holder only;
contains holder’s data – photo, name, surname;
can be only used by its holder;
compulsory for those passengers who use fare discounts in public transport, except for those enjoying 100% fare discount granted by the state (disabled persons of group 1 and 2 and disabled persons until the age of 18 years; see here); every passenger may apply for this type of e-ticket after visiting a customer service centre and completing a special form;
if the ticket is lost, it can be blocked and restored without losing the services paid;
it can be reloaded in ticket vending machines, kiosks of "Narvesen", "Latvia Post" offices in Riga, ticket trade outlets of "Rīgas satiksme" and on the Internet (Please see the list of trade outlets here);
designed for loading one-month tickets, minibus tickets and tickets for a certain number of trips;
tickets are to be used within 12 months upon the moment of purchase, except when the tariff of the ticket type changes or the ticket type is cancelled and Riga municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" sets a transition period for the validity of the ticket type;
e-tickets cannot be folded, pressed, broken, crumpled, soaked or subjected to another impact which makes then invalid for use;
the first e-ticket is issued free of charge, but if lost, making a new e-ticket will cost EUR 2.85 / LVL 2.00.

available in "Rīgas satiksme" ticket trade outlets only; when buying a blue non-personalised e-ticket, a customer pays a deposit of EUR 2.85 / LVL 2.00, which is repaid if the ticket is returned to a Riga municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" customer service centre in a technically sound and usable condition during its validity period;
it is necessary for those who use public transport on a regular basis, including one-month tickets without discounts, and does not want to use a personalised e-ticket;
if lost, cannot be blocked and restored;
it can be reloaded in ticket vending machines, kiosks of "Narvesen", "Latvia Post" offices in Riga and ticket trade outlets of "Rīgas satiksme" (Please see the list of trade outlets here);

to receive a Riga resident’s card, the client is to have his/her place of residence declared in Riga;

contains client’s data – photo, name, surname, identity code;
may be only used by its owner;
is compulsory for those who want to pay in public transport the reduced fare set by Riga City Council;
if lost, the card may be blocked and restored without losing already paid services;
can be reloaded in ticket vending machines, "Narvesen", "Preses apvienība" kiosks, "Latvia Post" offices in Riga, in outlets selling "Rīgas satiksme" tickets, as well as on the Internet (see the list of ticket outlets here);
one-month tickets, minibus tickets, group tickets, tickets for a certain period of time and for a certain number of trips can be loaded into the card;
tickets are to be used within 12 months from the moment of their purchase, except for cases when the tariff of this ticket type is changed /the ticket type is cancelled and municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" sets a transitional validity period for this ticket type;
a Riga resident’s card may not be folded, squeezed, broken, crumpled, soaked in a liquid or exposed to other similar impacts which make the card invalid for use;
For the first time, a Riga resident’s card is issued free of charge, but if lost, restoring the card would cost EUR 2.85 / LVL 2.00.

the card is issued to pupils of classes 1-12 of Riga comprehensive schools, as well as to those pupils declared in Riga and attending educational institutions outside Riga, who want to enjoy tariff discounts set by Riga City Council in Riga public transport;

tickets are to be used within 12 months upon the moment of purchase, except when the tariff of the ticket type changes or the ticket type is cancelled and Riga municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" sets a transition period for the validity of the ticket type;
Pupil’s e-cards cannot be folded, pressed, broken, crumpled, soaked or subjected to another impact which makes them invalid for use;
for the first time, pupil’s e-card is issued free of charge, but, if lost, making a new card will cost 2.85 EUR / 2.00 LVL.

can be reloaded after the use of paid services;
time tickets, group tickets, minibus tickets and tickets for a certain number of trips are available;
it can be bought in ticket vending machines, kiosks of "Narvesen", "Latvia Post" offices in Riga and ticket trade outlets of "Rīgas satiksme" (Please see the list of trade outlets here);
it is convenient for passengers who do not use Riga public transport on a regular basis, including Riga guests;
tickets are to be used within 12 months upon the moment of purchase, except when the tariff of the ticket type changes or the ticket type is cancelled and Riga municipal company "Rīgas satiksme" sets a transition period for the validity of the ticket type;
e-tickets cannot be folded, pressed, broken, crumpled, soaked or subjected to another impact which makes them invalid for use.

paper ticket – sold in public transport and in night transport only;
valid for the trip only – during which it has been bought;
pet’s ticket – can be only bought in public transport from driver;
disabled persons of group 1 and 2, disabled persons under the age of 18 years and persons accompanying a disabled person of group 1 or a disabled person under the age of 18 years can receive A FREE TICKET from driver without using a personalised e-ticket (they have to present a valid disabled person’s certificate to driver).

In case of technical problems, the driver issues to passengers transfer tickets which are valid for one hour in any vehicle of "Rīgas satiksme".
