    1924 - regular transportation of passengers by buses on several routes in Riga starts

    • Riga City Transport Board takes over bus lines
    • The concession contract of the joint stock company of Riga street railways expires and the city authorities take over the Riga street railways company

     

    1940. 25 city line buses built by JSC Vairogs on the chassis of British company Leyland Motors Ltd. are put into service.

    1939. The new building of the Central workshops in Brīvības Street 179 (in present tram depot No 5) is put into service.

    1938. Riga City takes over bus line No. 21, where 13 new Saurer  diesel buses are put into service.

    1937. Transport company J. Lācums un B.Izmailovičs puts into service modern streamline design buses built on Swedish company’s Volvo Bulldog chassis.

    1935. Single-track line No. 11 gets a second track (in Brasa-Mežaparks section) and is transferred to Kokneses Avenue before reaching Riga Zoo.

    1934. Riga’s new bus station is put into service and becomes the terminal of all city bus lines.

    1934. The Transport Directorate under Riga City’s Building Board is established.

    1931. The concession contract of the joint stock company of Riga street railways expires; the city authorities start the takeover of the Riga street railways company.

    1930. The Central market line is open for tram traffic.

    1929. The city opens the first municipal bus line No. 23 Viesturdārzs-Ģertrūdes Street.

    1927. 30 new tram motor cars built by Belgian company Ragheno, as well as 40 Latvian-made trailer cars are received and put into service.

    1927. The new single-track tram line from Fēnikss factory (now RVR) to Lielais Šmerlis is put into service, tram line No. 12 Daugava Embankment-Šmerlis is opened.

    1926. The tram depot in Ganību dambis (built in 1914-1915) is put into operation.

    1924. Private entrepreneurs starts regular transportation of passengers by buses on several routes in Riga.

    1922. A new tram line is opened from Daugava Embankment across the old railway bridge to Šoneru Street (now Uzvaras Boulevard).

    1921. The joint stock company of Riga street railways renovates the buildings of the former horse-drawn tram depot at Aleksandra (Brīvības) Street 110 (near the New Ģertrūde Church) and moves its headquarters over there.
