20th February 2003 - as a result of merging bus depots Imanta and Tālava, SIA Rīgas satiksme is established

2020. To ensure the safety of passengers during Covid-19 pandemic, Rīgas satiksme took measures throughout the year to limit the spread of the virus, including disinfection of the public vehicles, revision of the procedure for passenger boarding and disembarking, cabins of the vehicle drivers and workplaces of the customer service centers were equipped with protective glasses, seating places were marked in public transport, the filling of public transport and passenger flows were monitored, information calls for passengers were placed and reflected on the vehicle monitors.
2020. Some of the largest traction substations of Rīgas satiksme were completely reconstructed: No.9 (in Dainas Street 2) and No.26 (in Lacplesa Street 79A). The substations are equipped with modern power distribution equipment, new type dry transformers, full-period rectifiers, all control and signalling circuits have been modernized. Reliability of uninterrupted operation of substations has been increased several times.
2020. The road industry carried out restoration repairs of tram tracks with the total length of 2.528 km. Fifty-nine turns of rail tracks, straight sections, rail switches and crossings at the restoration facilities have been fully processed, including built-in double-edged switches at the tram junction in Ropazu Street.
2020. Rīgas satiksme driver training vehicles receive a new design. One tram, two trolleybuses and one bus have been redesigned.
2020. March 20th first hydrogen-powered trolleybuses start running in route No. 4.
2020. In Vienības gatve 6, right next to Trolleybus park No. 2, first hydrogen gas filling and storage station in the Baltics starts operating in test mode. It was built as a part of an international project "H2Nodes".
2019. First public transportation schedule real-time electronic monitors are placed at tram stops.
2017. The construction of a hydrogen production station starts at Vienības gatve 6, next to trolleybus depot No. 2.
2017. The Solaris Urbino buses of new design with upgraded body are received.
2016. Since July 1st only low-floor trolleybuses are in service in Riga.
2016. A contract is signed with Czech company Škoda Transportation on the delivery of 20 new low-floor trams.
2015. Rīgas satiksme in co-operation with the Latvian Industrial Heritage Fund issues a book of Andris Biedriņš and Edvīns Liepiņš „Rīgas sabiedriskais transports no 19. gs. vidus līdz mūsdienām” (Riga public transport from the middle of the 19th century till nowadays).
2014. The first new trolleybuses Škoda 27Tr are received.
2014. The first new buses Solaris Urbino 18 are received.
2013. A new technical maintenance and repair shop for low-floor tram opens in Brīvības Street 191.
2013. RP SIA Rīgas satiksme signs contracts with tender winners: Škoda Electric will deliver 125 new Škoda 27Tr trolleybuses, and Solaris Bus&Coach S.A. will deliver 175 new buses.
2013. Non-cash payments are introduced in Riga municipal parking-lots.
2012. Six four-section low-floor trams Škoda 15T1 are received.
2011. Riga City council and RP SIA Rīgas satiksme sign the contract On the delivery of public transport services in route network of Riga public transport, which provides for the integration of minibus routes into the network of urban public transport routes.
2011. Night buses start running in Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights by 10 routes starting from the Central railway terminal.
2010. Tram depot No. 4 in Tipogrāfijas Street 1 is closed.
2010. Czech company Škoda Transportation delivers the first low-floor trams Škoda 15T to depot No. 5.
2009. Tram rail tracks are reconstructed on the 11th November Embankment from 13th January Street to Akmens Bridge, low B1 rails are put on reinforced concrete.
2009. Trolleybuses No. 8 and 9 start running to Railway Terminal Square using diesel engines.
2009. The delivery of 150 Škoda 24Tr Irisbus trolleybuses is finished.
2009. A single electronic e-ticket (e-talons) is introduced.
2008. Rail tracks are modernized at the crossing of Brīvības and K.Barona Street, including the installation of a new type of switches with electronic control equipment, and the building of an access road to tram depot No. 5 under the overpass.
2008. RP SIA Rīgas satiksme signs a contract with Czech company Škoda Transportation on the delivery of 20 low-floor trams 15T-Riga.
2007. The reconstructed repair complex of bus depot No. 7 in Vestienas Street 35 is opened.
2005. Old Ikarus buses are withdrawn from traffic.
